Russian troops who managed to break through Ukrainian defenses near the city of Kreminna on Tuesday were repulsed and lost some of their heavy equipment, a senior Ukrainian official said on Wednesday, as cited by Reuters.
This was stated by the governor of Luhansk region, Serhii Gaidai, in an interview with Ukrainian television. We kept our positions,” the governor said.
Trying to ensure complete control over the two eastern provinces that make up the industrial region of Donbas, Russia has repeatedly launched attacks. Kreminna is located approximately 70 kilometers north of Bakhmut, the center of the fiercest Russian attacks.
Gaidai said he expected Russian forces to increase their efforts around the town of Kreminna, citing increased bombing and reconnaissance missions.
“I wouldn’t say it’s the most active part of the offensive, but it’s definitely ongoing,” he said.
