Low purchase prices for milk in Bulgaria forced many farmers to protest in Haskovo. But while farmers are dissatisfied with the situation with milk, Mykhailo Mykhaylov in Drachevo manages to overcome problems in the industry, writes 24Chasa, citing Rador.

Mykhailo Mykhaylov is a livestock breeder by profession, he raises 70 cows for milk production on his farm. Mikhail Mykhaylov told BNR Burgas the following about how he manages the industry and how he earns profits: “I am satisfied with the choice I made, namely the closed cycle of production. I produce everything myself and go to the market.”

But there are other problems with that, he notes: “I can’t satisfy the market, so I need to increase the number of cows. However, so far I am satisfied.”

Mykhailo Mykhaylov commented that the main factors of the difficult situation with the purchase price of milk are the free market and the lack of regulation of processes by the state. A large part of Bulgarian dairies buy more and more milk from Hungary, Ukraine and other European countries.

“In such countries as Romania, Ukraine and Hungary, the quality of milk is very good. There, the standards are applied and followed”

The reasons for this, according to Mykhaylov Mykhaylov, are as follows: “In countries such as Romania, Ukraine and Hungary, the quality of milk is very good. Standards of hygiene and proper milking are applied and observed there. The price, as far as I know, is about BGN 0.90 per liter of milk.”

Mykhailo Mykhaylov said that the Ministry of Agriculture should find a way to improve the conditions of doing business in farms.

Since there is no legislation to regulate profits and prices from the producer to the trader, there is no way to normalize the situation of livestock farmers in the country. Purchase prices for milk in the country have not yet stabilized, and the future of milk producers remains uncertain.
