A four-day memorial service for former King Constantine was held today at the Athens Cathedral, presided over by Archbishop Jerome, in the presence of his family and about 250 guests.

Under the conditions of strict measures, in the presence of the police and in compliance with the rules of the road, the guests arrived in the Athens Metropolis by minibuses from the hotel “Great Britain”.

In fact, traffic in the Metropolis was stopped from Syntagma Square in order to ensure the unhindered arrival of those who were supposed to attend the memorial service.

The sisters of the late Tsar Constantine, Sophia and Irina, were the first to arrive shortly before 11 a.m., the memorial service. They were soon followed by his wife Anna-Maria and their children Alexia, Pavlos, Nikolaos, Philippos and Theodora after their wives.

Also present were several Greeks, close friends, former classmates of the former king, businessmen and politicians.

After the commemoration, the family of the former tsar stood on the steps of the metropolis and greeted the people.

According to the program, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation will have coffee and light snacks, and tomorrow trisaio will be celebrated in Tatoi, where the opening of the tomb will also take place.
