The terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York will be closed on Friday due to power problems affecting inbound and outbound flights, the airport said in a tweet, disrupting one of the world’s busiest airports.
“Travelers should check with their airlines for the status of their flight prior to arriving at the airport,” Kennedy said. He added that the airport management continues to work with the terminal operator to resume flights as soon as possible.
The airport tried to serve affected flights using other terminals after the blackout began on Thursday.
According to the airport’s website, some flights that were supposed to arrive at JFK have been diverted to other airports on the east coast.
