NBA fanatics will soon be able to watch games in a whole new way, watching them play live in any player’s place with the help of technology.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver today unveiled the future of the NBA app, which will provide major league basketball fans with new personalization options and the ability to create their own 3D avatar with their smartphone and “check in” on the floor.
Through the NBA app, subscribers will be able to put their avatar in the place of any player who will do in real time what a professional basketball player does.
In the video below, Commissioner Silver sweeps host Ahmad Rashad, who ends up nailing him (virtually) on the court during a live Utah Jazz game.
In addition to choosing an avatar, the service will offer fans alternative languages, comments from well-known influencers, the ability to “transfer” the match to virtual locations, place bets, and other angles.
