One of the reasons he decided to co-found OpenAI was because “Google didn’t pay enough attention to AI security.”
Artificial intelligence “is both positive and negative, with promising possibilities,” Musk added, stressing that its evolution also comes with “great risk.”

While cars, planes and medicine must comply with safety regulations, the appropriate rules for artificial intelligence have yet to be put in place to control its development, Musk said. “I sincerely believe that we need to establish safety rules for artificial intelligence,” he added, saying that, in his opinion, AI systems pose a greater risk to society, “than cars, planes or drugs.”
