The State Council in the framework of the pilot process, i.e. process, which is a pilot for all pending cases, resolved the issue of calculating compensation, for which KTEL for discounted or free tickets for special groups such as students, students, disabled people, etc. According to State Council, KTEL compensation for free or discount tickets is calculated based on their difference with a full ticket. The Supreme Court acquitted the owners of KTEL for the losses they suffered during the years of the economic crisis, and by its decision opened the way for them to receive large sums of money from the Greek state.

Decisions made unanimously by the State Council irrevocably resolve the issue of paying for discounted or free tickets, and therefore all pending legal proceedings throughout the territory at the request of KTEL owners are now determined by the decisions of the State Council.

According to the decisions made by the seven-member First Division of the Supreme Court, which was enlarged due to the seriousness of the case, “the calculation of the amount of compensation follows directly and clearly from the law and the corresponding explanatory note.” , and is equal to the total difference between the price of free or discounted tickets issued in the relevant time period and the total price.”

By the judgments rendered (decisions 221-223/2023) the KTEL of Heraklion, Larissa and Ioannina was acquitted, claiming a total of 8,762,251 euros for the three years 2008-2011, as compensation was limited due to the large financial crisis.
