The government will adopt a fiscal amendment on VAT evasion on Wednesday. In fact, we are talking about a draft law that will later go to the parliament.

According to the document, any actions or omissions committed as part of cross-border fraudulent schemes have led to a reduction in the resources of the European Union budget by at least 10 million euros in national currency equivalent by:

  • using or providing false, incorrect or incomplete VAT declarations or documents;
  • non-disclosure of VAT information in cases where such information is subject to disclosure in accordance with the law;
  • submission of correct VAT returns to fraudulently disguise non-payment or establish illegitimate rights to VAT refunds.
