The city council of the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol has published a series of photos showing the deplorable state of the city’s port, once one of the largest in Ukraine, reports Ukrinform.

“The port of Mariupol under occupation looks like this. Sunken ships, ruins and complete degradation,” the Ukrainian authorities wrote on the Telegram channel.

The city council reminded that the Mariupol seaport is one of the largest in Ukraine with a capacity of about 10 million tons of cargo per year.

“In 2022, we were preparing to open a new grain terminal. It was supposed to become the most powerful grain charging complex. But the Russian occupiers destroyed everything,” the authorities write.

The Russian invasion caused one of the biggest humanitarian disasters in Mariupol. The city is almost 90% destroyed after massive bombing by the Russians.
