The Stellantis factory in Sochaux, where the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 are currently produced, is today at the center of a case that the manufacturer could do well. Indeed, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, after the mysterious invasion, a total of 52 cars were damaged by fire according to the plant management.

The Montbéliard police station is currently investigating the crime. Firefighters from the plant and the department’s fire and rescue service intervened to extinguish the flames, but according to the Montbéliard prosecutor’s office, 42 cars were extinguished. “Totally Destroyed” AND “ten others were humiliated.” These are clearly new models, only SUVs Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008.

Currently, there are several assumptions: the cars were stored in the parking lot under the solar panels, which burned out several meters. These panels could have contributed to the spread of the fire.

At the same time, a source close to the investigation specified that five security guards were working at the site at night surprised the individual who would have acted on his own before he could escape. Currently, recordings from video surveillance cameras have not been used.

Peugeot 3008: continued success

It remains to be seen whether this intrusion caused the fire, and if so, what the man’s motives were for attacking the car manufacturing plant.

It should be remembered that the Sosho facility currently produces approx 1200 cars per day. A figure driven by success, in particular, the Peugeot 3008, which does not seem to lose strength even after almost seven years of career.

The new Peugeot 3008 will also be presented this year, in the second half of 2023, in particular with an unprecedented 100% electric version that promises up to 700 km of autonomy.
