European emergency number 112 valid in all EU member states as one a useful tool for citizens who are in an emergency, since you can call it from any phone, even without network coverage, from a mobile without modules and a SIM card, from a landline without a card. The single call center directs every call – depending on the emergency – to the competent authority, be it the police, fire brigade, ambulance or missing children helpline.

Outgoing branch 112 received the first real applications in March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic reached the territory of Greece, and used to inform about measures to prevent coronavirus. The practice of sending 112 messages to citizens about the pandemic continued until November of that year.
