One day after announcement dismissals of teachers of the Drama School of the National Theatertheir colleagues in Theater School of the State Theater of Northern Greeceto express my disagreement with Presidential Decree No. 85.
In particular, with this announcement, the professors of the KTHBE School are resigning and declaring solidarity with the students of the KTHBE School of Drama and their colleagues from the National Drama School.
Announcement in detail:
“For a month and a half, we have been following the development of a long-standing and serious problem of awarding academic degrees, which has sharply escalated with the signing of PD85/2022. We stood by our students, considering their demands reasonable, their struggle civilized and mature, their concern for the future essential.
Until now, we have not taken a public position, hoping for an immediate reaction from the state, which would not let the academic year be lost, and with it the possibility of these young people receiving a guarantee of recognition for their education, but also for their subsequent course in the professional field of art.
We are in solidarity, first of all, with our students of the School of Drama of KTHBE, as well as with our colleagues from the School of Drama of the National Theater and their own students, and we ask all those responsible to help that the deadlines for PD85, which devalue the degree of artists, as well as the position that shares artists on those who are engaged in artistic and educational activities, and violate their collective agreements.
Today, having found that with the increased mobilization of students and artists across the country, the immediate steps that would have made our students safe from the risk of deadlock have not been taken, we are in the unpleasant position of knowingly and responsibly resigning.
