The ‘Flagship Investments of Exceptional Importance’ category excludes investments in renewable energy storage systems with an amendment submitted to Parliament. From now on, they will only enjoy the accelerated licensing incentive. This incentive, however, will not bypass the priority conditions for granting the conditions for connection to the network, stipulated by the decree of the ministry, issued in August last year. The goal, as stated in the explanatory note, is the rational strengthening of strategic investments in relation to RES investment projects. Systems combining a renewable energy power plant and a green hydrogen production system can be included in the category of strategic investments, provided that the energy produced is used exclusively for hydrogen production and the installation of offshore wind farms or floating photovoltaic installations as well as completely renewable energy projects. controlled power generation. These are projects that combine a renewable energy production station (wind or photovoltaic) and a storage battery. The ability to introduce energy into the system or absorb it from the system makes the output of these systems completely controllable and therefore optimizes the operation of the electrical system.
This category also includes RES projects that interconnect areas of the territory that have not been connected and are not planned to be connected to the national power transmission system via a submarine cable, according to the approved ten-year development program DEDDIE.
The amendment provides for special incentives for investment in renewable energy in areas that are part of the territorial plans for a just transition in the delignitized areas of Western Macedonia and Megalopolis.
