Metrorex says that starting Wednesday, February 8, travelers with a contactless card can top-up it in seconds at a card vending machine across the Metro network. The service operates throughout the metro network, with the exception of the machines located at stations on the Gara de Nord 2 – Străulești and Nicolae Grigorescu 2 – Anghel Saligny sections.
This new feature will allow travelers to view and/or reload on Metrorex contactless cards travel titles that were previously loaded onto cards held by travelers as indicated in the card vending machine menu. According to the company, discount travel cards cannot be topped up at card vending machines.
“Metrorex provides this method of topping up contactless cards through 210 Card Vending Machines located on routes 1, 2, 3 and 5. Thus, the transport company constantly improves the range of services, which directly affects the increase in passenger satisfaction,” the company’s statement says.
“The introduction of the new service is an important result that provides passengers with a modern means of accessing the metro,” says Metrorex.
