OMV Petrom announced results for 2022. The company made a record contribution to the state budget of 20 billion lei, of which fees and taxes amount to 19 billion lei and dividends worth about 1 billion lei. Thus, the position of OMV Petrom as the largest contributor to the budget of Romania is confirmed this year.
The biggest increase was due to direct taxes and contributions from the energy sector, which increased almost 4 times to approx. 10 billionlei. From this amount, the specific contributions of the energy sector are presented 7.3 billionlei. These include additional taxation of natural gas and electricity in the amount of 4.8 billion lei, new contributions introduced in 2022 amounting to 2 billion lei representing solidarity contributions to the Energy Transition Fund and the Voluntary Contribution to Reduce Fuel Prices, as well as oil and natural gas royalties, which will double in 2022, reaching 2.1 billion lei.
During the same period, the company recorded a net profit of 10 billion lei.
The results were recorded against the background of the growth of quotations on the international exchanges of crude oil and petroleum products, in the conditions of the crisis in the energy market, aggravated by the conflict in Ukraine.
In 2022, the company invested 3.6 billion lei in the Romanian economy, which is 26% more than the previous year. Investments were directed, in particular, to the “Exploration and mining” sector in the total amount of 2.6 billion lei.
OMV Petrom plans for 2023 investment of 6 billion lei, which is equivalent to 60% of the net profit recorded in 2022. Investments are aimed at green energy projects. The Neptun Deep project is strategic, regarding which the company plans to make a final investment decision in mid-2023.
The company also announced its intention to pay a dividend of 0.0375 lei/share. Thus, the Romanian state will receive more than 480 million lei, which corresponds to 20% of the company’s shares.
The company is actively involved in supporting social projects in such areas as health care, environment and education. In 2022, the company allocated 200 million lei for their support.
