“Chelsea” spent 611 million euros on transfers in the last 6 months, but ranks 9th in the Premier League. The London group is trying to save this season and has started working with Gilbert Enoka, the mental skills coach of the New Zealand rugby team, according to Reuters.
Chelsea have signed Gilbert Enoch, the man who helped the All Blacks win two World Cup titles
Enoka has worked with the All Blacks since 2000 in a number of roles, with the last seven years coaching leadership leaders, following 15 years as a mental skills coach. His mandate coincided with two consecutive world championship titles won by New Zealanders in 2011 and 2015, writes Agerpres.
The New Zealand cricket team also called on Enoka’s services between 1998 and 2004, as did the netball team (1994-1997).
“An idiot puts himself in the center of everything. There are people who put themselves before the team, people who think they are entitled to something, expect different rules to be made for them, people who hypocritically operate in the dark or talk excessively about their work.
Management may not detect such counterproductive behavior. Players and leaders themselves must criticize others for their inflated egos. Often teams put up with this because the player has great talent.
We look for early warning signs and get rid of a lot of arrogance pretty quickly. Our motto: If you can’t change people (their attitudes, no), change people.” Enoka said in 2017.
Chelsea are 9th in the Premier League with 30 points from 21 games and will play West Ham United away on Saturday.
