
The night from Sunday to Monday was the coldest this year, the air temperature in the mountains reached -22 degrees, and wind gusts reached more than 100 km/h. At many weather stations it was below -10 C. And the coming days will be frosty.
The coldest was on the summit of Omu, -22 C, and in the Țarcu mountains it was -20 C, but the actual temperature was much lower due to the wind blowing at 110 km/h.
The minimum temperature was -19 C in Gorj and Bâlea Lac, and -18 C in the Qeliman Mountains. It was -15 C in Kurtja de Arges and Tirgu Lepus, -14 C in Bâlești and -14 C in the city – 12 C Bystrytsia, Petroshany and Toplitza.
In Craiova and Baia Mare it was -11 degrees, according to ANM data, while Sulin and Hura Porticei were the warmest: the night minimum was -1 degree.
Sunday was extremely cold in the mountains, with highs of -19.4C in Om and -16.9C in Keliman.
After very little snow in January, winter is now in full force across much of the country. The snowpack was 256 cm at Bâlea Lac, 150 cm at Omu and 133 cm at the weather station in the Țarcu Mountains. According to ANM data, at 8 o’clock on Monday, the snow layer was 27 cm in Brasov, and 58 cm in Predial.
