The lifting of lockdowns and a return to gyms and hairdressers in 2022, a general return to pre-pandemic economic and social activity, have also changed e-commerce shopping habits. However, it is worth noting that, despite the normal operation of physical stores in 2022 without restrictive measures, the dynamics of online shopping has not stopped.

Specifically, according to data collected and analyzed by Skroutz, Skroutz Marketplace received 7.1 million orders in 2022, up 61.48% from 2021.

Of all online purchases in 2022, 88.93% were made by repeat shoppers, proving that consumers are becoming more aware of these purchases and continue to choose them. As for the Skroutz Marketplace partner stores, the number has exceeded 13,000, which is 21.86% more than in 2021, and the number of products available on the Marketplace has increased by 35.05%.

They are up 61.4% compared to 2021, with e-commerce “surviving” physical store openings.

Top 10 product categories consumers searched for on Skroutz in 2022: mobile phones, sneakers, sports shoes, smartwatches, mobile cases, TVs, men’s jackets, women’s bags, laptops, bluetooth handsfree.

Some of the product categories that saw the biggest drop in searches in 2022 are “gym accessories”, “Wii games” and “nail care tools”. Conversely, categories such as “ski and snowboard pants”, “basketball shoes” and “kids football boots” showed some of the highest search rates, indicating that apparel searches through the platform are gaining momentum.

Skroutz Points automatic parcel pickup points (automated parcel pickup boxes or left-luggage offices), of which there are more than 600 in Athens and Thessaloniki, are also in high demand. It should be noted that for 2022, 25% of orders processed by Skroutz Last Mile were delivered to Skroutz Point.

Recall that the Masoutis supermarket chain recently announced a partnership with Skroutz to place Skroutz Point initially in 18 physical stores of the network in Athens and Thessaloniki.
