Protection shield for Olympus
“We hope that in a few months UNESCO will embrace the mythical mountain. Step by step, we have created a groundbreaking protective shield for Olympus, since a year ago we issued a Presidential Decree on the protection and management of the natural environment of the region, and today we presented an updated list of Olympus nominations for the list of cultural and heritage natural monuments,” said the Deputy Minister of the Environment and energy Giorgos Amiras.
The UNESCO decision to include Mount Olympus in the list of world cultural and natural heritage sites is expected by September 2023.
