
“The reintegration of our most vulnerable fellow citizens into the social fabric and labor market is not just a priority, but a social necessity,” said the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. Domna Mikhailidouon the occasion of her visit to Open Day Center for the Homeless Social Solidarity Networks of the Attica Regionwhich is working EXERCISE in Piraeus.
The Deputy Minister discussed with the beneficiaries and workers the care services that are provided every day.
The Center provides free clean clothes, access to bathrooms and laundries, meals, medical careinformation about reintegration programs, as well as psychological support.
The Attica District covers monthly rent, utility bills, and provides the necessary electrical equipment and clothing. To date, the Center has received more than 8,000 visits from vulnerable citizens.
Ms. Mikhailidou, in a conversation with the staff and administration of the Center, also emphasized the importance of the program “Housing and work“, which is a radical solution for the integration and reintegration of beneficiaries into society and the labor market.
President of the Social Solidarity Network of the Attica Region and Deputy Governor of Piraeus, Stavroula Antonakou, said: “Every day we support our homeless fellow citizens, offering them all the necessary services for their dignified existence. Our goal is the smooth reintegration of everyone into society. With the support of the state, as well as with the necessary cooperation with the competent authorities, we continue to protect the rights of every citizen who needs it most.”
For her part, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Domna Mihailidou stressed: “Homelessness is the most severe form of social exclusion. That is why, for four years now, we have been doing everything in our power to ensure it. reintegration of our most vulnerable fellow citizens into society and the labor market. By deeds, not words, we are constantly creating conditions so that all our fellow citizens can meet their needs and live in dignity. And in these efforts, it is important that we all continue to be together, the state and competent authorities. We support every initiative aimed at strengthening the social protection of the most vulnerable segments of the population. We don’t leave anyone behind.”
