
Time is slowly counting down to May, when the 67th European Song Contest will take place. Eurovision take place in Liverpool.
Thus, on the night of Monday, the Greek participation was “blocked”: our country will be represented by Victor Vernikos with a song “What they’re saying”.
If his name means nothing to you, it’s because the singer is now taking his first steps, since he just 16 years – something that makes it the youngest representative of our country in the history of the institution.
The Greek song was chosen in combination with a weighting factor 50.6% in her vote Audit Committee vs 49.4% her voices ERT committee.
The final trio of entries for this year’s European Song Contest included “Liar” by Melissa Mantsoukis and “Shout out” by Antonia Kauri and Maria Maragu.

As for “What They Say”, it’s “an emotional yet festival ballad,” said Victor Vernikos, revealing that he wrote it at the age of 14 in April 2021, under stress.
Victor Vernikos, as his stage name, was born in Athens and began piano lessons at age four, vocal lessons at eight, and guitar lessons at ten. At eleven, he began writing his first songs, and for two years he has been overseeing the production of his own music, attending music technology courses.
