Not only he has been accused of plagiarism, but PNL General Secretary Nicolae Chuke reflected on Monday when asked if he still agreed with President Klaus Iohannis’ statements about plagiarists.

In 2011, the head of state said that “plagiarism is intellectual theft, and it is unacceptable that in the face of convincing evidence, the accused do not retreat a single step, as is the case in a consolidated democracy.

“This statement by the country’s president is important for each of us. It’s just a process that has to be completed by a final court decision,” answered Nicolae Chuke after a visible moment of hesitation.

Earlier, the prime minister was asked if the PNL’s position on plagiarism had changed, and Chuke replied: “there were discussions during which our position was presented. There is justice in Romania. From the accusation to the final sentence – time. We are leaving the process in court, when we have a final decision, we will announce it.”

Both Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke and Interior Minister Lucian Bode are accused of plagiarizing their doctoral theses. Both went to court to get rid of the charges.
