According to the study, over the past two months, 95% of respondents answered that they had made purchases in a regular store, and 78% – in an online store. According to the study, consumers in Greece prefer to shop online: because of better prices and offers (74%), because they save time (62%) and avoid going to physical stores (55%).

50% said they shop online because they find more choices, while 49% say ordering online saves them from waiting and queuing at physical stores. As for physical stores, they are chosen because of the opportunity to receive the goods immediately (69%) and the possibility of physical contact with the goods (65%).

A nationwide survey conducted in October 2022 on a sample of 700 consumers aged 16-74 also shows that the dominant means of payment in physical stores as well as in the digital channel is the debit card: 44% in the first case and 46% in the second.

In physical stores, the second most popular payment method is cash with 37%, while in online stores it is cash on delivery with 19%. Pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements are the first to enter online shopping, with 86% making this type of purchase.

They are followed by: clothes with 72%, cosmetics with 69%, underwear and swimwear with 61%, sportswear and shoes with 61%, books with 57% and gifts with 54%.
