Tolls are expensive, even too expensive. And it shouldn’t get any better while the next price increase is scheduled for February 1st. If it averaged 2% in 2022, it will be 4.75% across France.
A huge increase, of course, at the expense of motorists, who are already caught by the throat by rising fuel prices. So much so that this year many were forced to cut short their trips and skip vacations.
But is this outburst really justified? Well, not necessarily, according to one a report published by the General Inspectorate of Finance.

Too much profitability
The last one, dated 2021, just happened unearthed by our colleagues at Le Canard Enchaîné. And it is quite offensive against the road companies, proving that the latter are getting too rich at the expense of motorists.
The document emphasizes that the activities of APRR-Area and ASF-Escota ” benefits from much higher than expected returns, contrary to the principle of reasonable remuneration“. According to the newspaper, it will be 12%against only 7.67% according to the targets set in 2006. A very high figure that does not seem to worry the government.
No measurement
Indeed, the latter must be aware of this value. But, to tell the truth, he seems neither hot nor cold. Indeed, the state, and in particular Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire did not react and did not take any action.
The best solution, of course, would be lower prices, which, unfortunately, is not the case now. Let’s hope that the authorities will finally act to avoid another yellow vest crisis.
