As reported by Prosport, Maria Boldor’s A test is positive, which was confirmed by the quoted source and the official representative of the Romanian Fencing Federation.

“Maria Boldor’s A sample is positive. Test B will also be held”, – the official representative of the Romanian Fencing Federation.

According to gsp.ro, the banned substance is ostarine, the same one that also found Lucian Booth doping in 2016. We are talking about an anabolic steroid banned by WADA since 2008.

“Ostarin is a non-specific substance that is classified as an anabolic androgenic steroid and has an anabolic effect.

The case is ongoing and we are the body that manages the results. It was in our doping control plan, there was also this out-of-competition doping control” – Gabriela Andreyasupresident of ANAD, reports gsp.ro.

If the B test is also positive, then the CSA-registered athlete Steaua will be suspended, following the model of Simona Halep (also provisionally suspended for doping).

Maria Boldor became the bronze medalist of the 2022 World Championship in Cairo. She is also a national champion and won the Romanian Cup in individual women’s rapier.

At the moment, Maria Boldor is ranked 18th in the world.

The control after which Maria was found to be positive took place in December 2022, and the temporary suspension began on January 11, 2023.
