Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov made the announcement after reporters in the Russian capital asked him during a daily news conference on Wednesday about information about hacking attacks on German infrastructure after Der Spiegel magazine reported on Tuesday night that Berlin would approve dispatch of Leopard tanks. to Ukraine.

The information has yet to be officially confirmed by the German government, but Jens Stoltenberg, NATO’s secretary general, said on Tuesday that he was confident a decision would be made soon. He assured about this at a press conference in Berlin together with the new Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistorius.

“We don’t know what kind of group it is. We sincerely wonder why any hacker group is associated with Russia. No one can explain why it is with Russia, and not with some European country,” Dmytro Peskov told reporters on Tuesday in Moscow regarding cyberattacks on Germany’s infrastructure.

“This is absurd. We look at where the vast majority of hacker attacks on the Russian Federation come from, especially on sensitive organizations, including the president’s website. Many attacks originate from the United States. Should all hacker groups be linked to the White House based on this fact?” the Kremlin spokesman added.

Russian hackers attacked websites from Romania

We will remind you that Killnet, a group of Russian and pro-Russian hackers, attacked the site of the Rompetrol company and the main airports of Romania at the beginning of May of last year, which were inaccessible for a long time due to distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.

These attacks come after the same group of hackers attacked several Romanian government websites in late April, including MApN and the National Cyber Security Directorate, as well as the websites of some political parties, state-owned companies and banks.

At one point, these attacks used more than 11,400 IP addresses, some of them also from Romania.

“Citizens of Romania – Russia is not your enemy! Your enemies are NATO and your government! You are involved in an endless war, think now why Killnet came to your country! Russia is waging war against Nazism! Russia does not kill ordinary people. Please understand this fraternal people before it’s too late!”, the hackers said in a message posted on Telegram.

These attacks also targeted Romanian news sites, including the website HotNews.ro, which became unavailable on May 2 last year.
