The 65-year-old British actor disappeared on January 13 while hiking in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said “numerous” ground and air searches are underway.

California has recently been hit by severe storms.

However, the sheriff’s department said the search would continue “weather and terrain permitting.”

A representative of the department told the PA news agency that ground searches at heights where searches have not yet been carried out are not yet possible due to the weather.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said it has responded to more than 12 calls in and around Mount San Antonio, known locally as Mount Baldy, in the past four weeks.

The territory is “extremely dangerous”

He warned tourists to “stay away” from the area, adding that it was “extremely dangerous” even for experienced hikers.

Last week, Julian Sands’ car was found not far from where she disappeared.

His family thanked the authorities for their efforts.

Earlier this week they also said they were “deeply touched” by the “outpouring of love and support” they had received.

In a statement, the family praised the “heroic search teams” working in difficult weather conditions “on the ground and in the air to bring Julian home.”
