
Material damage to houses and shops caused bad weather which hit Aridia in the Pell regional division in the previous hours.
Speaking on Radio Thessaloniki, the mayor of Almopia, Christos Batsis, spoke about the huge amount of water that came from four different areas of Aridea.
According to him, the height of the water inside the stores reached 60-70 centimeters. He said such floods have been happening since 1979.
The municipality said that due to the prevailing extreme weather conditions, schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 24th.
Bad weather also hit the Aridia Municipal Stadium, where Almopos plays in Super League 2. Almopos Aridias uploaded photos and videos to Facebook of the stadium, which was turned into a “lake” by bad weather, while talking about the total destruction.
The fire department received 83 calls for pumping water and took action in 22 cases.
