It took the No. 22 seed Rybakina an hour and 20 minutes to defeat the Latvian 6-2, 6-4.
Elena won twice on the return in each set and was helped by her serve in the tight moments, serving 11 aces and saving seven of the eight break points that Elena had.
It was a match between two Grand Slam winners: Rybakina won at Wimbledon 2022, and Ostapenko triumphed at Roland Garros 2017.
Olena will fight for a place in the grand final in Melbourne with the winner of the match between Jessica Pegula (favorite 3) and Victoria Azarenka (24 WTA).
