​Karen Khachanov beat Yoshihito Nishioka in the round of the 2023 Australian Open, the Russian ranked 20th in the ATP rankings, winning after two hours of play.

The No. 18 seed in Melbourne, Khachanov got off to a great start and won the first 14 games (leading 6-0, 6-0, 2-0).

The Japanese Nishioka tried to fight back, but also lost the third set on a tie-break (7-4).

Karen, who dropped just two points in the second set, will play the winner of the match between Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz (11 ATP/10 favourite) and American Sebastian Korda (31 ATP/29) in the quarters.
