Pentagon: 510 UFO reports – why they pose a threat to the US

United States of America collected 510 reports of unidentified flying objects in 2022, many of which were in military airspace. Although there is no evidence of the existence of aliens, they still pose a threat, according to a declassified government report released on Thursday.

Last year, the Pentagon opened an All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office dedicated exclusively to receiving and analyzing all reports of unknown phenomena, many of which were recorded by military pilots. The office is working with intelligence agencies to evaluate these incidents.

Events “continue to take place in restricted or sensitive airspace, highlighting potential concerns about flight safety or the possibility of intelligence gathering from a ‘hostile’ country,” according to a 2022 Office of the Director of National Intelligence report.

The report indicates how many such flying objects were found near facilities where nuclear power plants operate or nuclear weapons are stored.

Of the 510 flying objects, 144 were registered in the past and 366 new reports were made. Most reports, according to the report, show “unremarkable traits”. These can be drones or balloon-like objects.

However, the bureau is required to record any movements or reports of objects that may indicate that a potential adversary is in possession of new technology.
