“Everyone makes a few mistakes at home,” including members of the government, Bolsonaro said, explaining that during his time in office “every day was Monday.”

The former far-right leader left Brazil on December 30, two days before handing power to his successor, leftist Lulo da Silva, who defeated him in October’s presidential election.

In an excerpt published by the Metropoles news site, the guerrillas advise him not to return to Brazil, where the Supreme Court recently placed him under investigation for his role in the Jan. 8 vandalism of positions of power.

That day, thousands of people identified as Lodzarians stormed the Presidential Palace, Congress and the Supreme Court, refusing to recognize the election results.

“I regret what happened,” Bolsonaro said, calling the events “unbelievable.”

During the riots, infrastructure, priceless works of art and furniture belonging to the national heritage were destroyed.

More than 1,100 people are still in custody for what has been described as “terrorism” by the government of Lula da Silva, who has been in office since January 1.

Jair Bolsonaro, who has been isolated and largely silent in his final weeks in office, condemned the “robbery” and denied any involvement in the attack on the seats of power.
