Miley Cyrus’ new single “Flowers” has been named the favorite in terms of music released last week, ahead of Shakira, who took aim at ex-partner Pique in a new song. Miley Cyrus fans believe the new track has a message to ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, whose release day coincided with the January 13 release date.
Flowers, a mid-tempo, disco-inspired track that advocates self-fulfillment after a breakup, is part of her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation , out March 10, Billboard notes.
While Miley Cyrus has not confirmed that Flowers is about her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, the single’s release date and lyrics are some clues to the song’s meaning, Insider reports.
And fans noted several details, including the fact that the single was released on Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday.
Thus, Miley Cyrus seems to have applied the “recipe” of Shakira, who released a track in collaboration with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap, which talks about Gerard Pique and his new girlfriend Clara Chia.
Although Flowers won the battle in the Billboard poll, Shakira’s track leads the way with more than 123 million views on YouTube, compared to the American singer’s 32 million.
Flowers are one of the most popular sounds currently being used on TikTok.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on the set of the movie “The Last Song” in 2010 and dated for several years. The couple got married in 2018 and divorced a year later.
“This is brilliant!”
Cyrus sings “I can buy myself flowers” and “I can hold my hand by myself” in the new song, which is reminiscent of Bruno Mars’ hit “When I Was Your Man,” a song Hemsworth reportedly dedicated to Cyrus on her first engaged in 2013, according to Billboard.
In the first verse, Cyrus says, “I built a house and watched it burn,” a reference to the shared home that burned down in 2018, according to US Weekly.
It’s been a terrible few days. This is what is left of my house. love Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have also lost their homes and my heart goes out to all those affected by these fires.

Another moment that seems to be reminiscent of a scene filmed with the famous couple at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party is when Miley Cyrus does a similar dance move and sings “I Can Love Me Better.”
