The Bucharest Court of Appeal has finally revoked the environmental approval for PUZ Sector 1, an urban plan initiated by the Tudorace administration that allowed tens of hectares of green space to be concreted. This was announced by the general mayor of the capital, Nikushor Dan.
“The Bucharest Court of Appeals finally revoked the environmental approval of the PUZ Sector 1 project. This action was initiated in 2019 by the Eco-Civic Foundation and the Save Bucharest association, of which I was vice president at the time. Six sectoral PMUs predicted the disappearance of 600 hectares of green areas (map attached), which is one of the most damaging decisions of the PSD administration. At the moment, four out of six sectoral PUZs have been finally cancelled, the other two have been suspended by the court,” said Nikushor Dan.
PUZ of Sector 1 was not approved by the General Council, but some of the approvals were given.
In 2020, HotNews.ro wrote about the violations found in the plans posted on the Sector 1 City Hall website: the Pro Rapid base was transformed from a green zone to an urban development pole, where business centers, public services, public spaces, commercial squares and cultural centers, Herăstrău Park, a historical monument, lost its special status and became an ordinary park, and housing could be built on 50% of the territory belonging to the park. In response, Mayor Daniel Tudorache said that these provisions had been changed, but the new version did not appear on the website.
