Rafael Nadal will end his career if he wins Roland Garros-2023, Oleksandr Zverev
In 2022, Roger Federer bid a tearful farewell to tennis at the Laver Cup. His great rival, Rafael Nadal, cried with him.
At 36 (he turns 37 on June 3), Nadal is also nearing the end of his tennis career, and if Alexander Zverev is to be believed, it will happen at this year’s edition of the Grand The Roland Garros Slam.
In an interview with Eurosport, Zverev said that Rafa will end his career at Roland Garros 2023 if he wins for the 15th time on clay against Philippe Chatrier.
“Rafael Nadal, unfortunately, will end his career at Roland Garros,” said Zverev. The German adds: “I don’t want him (to retire) but I think he’ll have a great tournament, there’s a good chance he’ll win it and then say goodbye.”
The Iberian has an impressive streak on Parisian soil, where he won in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
Rafa’s resume includes two Australian Open titles (2009, 2022), two more at Wimbledon (2008, 2010) and four US Open titles (2010, 2013, 2017, 2019).
Moreover, the Spaniard leads the hierarchy of Grand Slam titles.
1 Rafael Nadal 22
2 Novak Djokovic 21
3 Roger Federer 20 (retired from tennis).
