Mitsotakis on the Parthenon sculptures: We will achieve their return, but not soon

In a “systematic and quiet effort to achieve the national goal of reunification” Sculptors of the Parthenon said the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at his monthly meeting with the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

According to the Prime Minister, no immediate results are expected, but systematic steps are being taken to return Marbles.

“As long as the people trust us again, I believe that we will be able to achieve this goal with absolute respect for the obvious red lines that have been set by all governments”, while emphasizing the need to “achieve what we all aspire to, and it could not be different not only for us Greeks but also for visitors to see and enjoy this unique World Heritage Site in its natural environment, the Acropolis Museum in the shadow of the sacred rock.”

In turn, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou noted that it is very positive that “international public opinion now shares the fair request of our country.”

“I hope that a solution will be found that will ensure their return to where they belong, in Greece, and reunification, as you correctly noted,” he concluded.

“We will return growth dividends to those who need it”

The prime minister and the deputy also discussed the issue of the economy and the budget for 2023.

In this context, Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted that “2023 is an election year, but the government will not succumb to the sirens of populism and will not run away from the approved budget, which provides for a surplus in 2023, in order to achieve the investment-grade goal.”

“We will act with the caution and seriousness that the time requires. Citizens know that we have the opportunity to return a fair development dividend to those social forces that need it from the overproduction of the economy, and in this direction we will continue to move until national elections are held,” he said.

For her part, Katerina Sakellaropoulou was very positive about the fact that “despite the ongoing disasters – the war in Ukraine continues – every effort is being made in the economy to help the vulnerable, who have to pay the highest price.”

“Moreover, with the most recent events in Brazil, which, fortunately, did not end badly, we have seen what is known that modern liberal democracies are a conquest that requires constant vigilance, nothing is taken for granted and therefore, a strong economy, maintaining social cohesion and the harmonious functioning of institutions are integral elements. This is a conquest that requires constant vigilance, and that is why a strong society and the harmonious functioning of institutions are essential elements,” the President of the Republic noted.
