Emma Reducanu is confident she will recover in time for the Australian Open

The athlete, who is ranked 75th in the WTA ranking, injured her shin in a match with Victoria Kuzmova and was forced to end her career, leaving the court in tears.

Emma Reducanu is unsure if she will be able to compete at the Australian Open, but remains optimistic and is in Melbourne preparing for a potential run.

Having sprained her ankle, Emma is hoping to return “good and fit” as she makes her recovery.

The British player was taken out in training on Monday, but was visibly affected by her ankle problem.

“This injury was very unfortunate because I felt very good during my season, I felt very good during the training I did physically.” – said Emma Reducanu, reports Eurosport.

“And I just had an accident on the field, I don’t know what I could have done to prevent it.

I take things day by day and try to see and progress as best I can every day.

We’ll see, hopefully by Monday or when the tournament starts I’ll be fine and ready.

We’re taking it day by day and we’re not trying to expect too much at this stage.” – she continued.

Emma Reducanu was eliminated in the second round in her previous appearance at the Australian Open.

The first Grand Slam tournament in 2023 will be held from January 16 to 29.
