Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives ★★★
COP (2022)
Directed by Rian Johnson
InterpretationsCast: Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson
The long-awaited Greek-filmed sequel to the hit Knives has been at the top of Netflix’s most watched programs for some time now. A group of old friends gather on a Greek island, invited to the mansion of a new tech billionaire (Edward Norton).
They will be joined, albeit uninvited, by the famous detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), who will take on the solution of another mystery when revelations begin and the rest of the co-defendants turn against each other.
Rian Johnson creates another fun mystery that doesn’t take itself too seriously and, of course, relies heavily on the brilliance of its multi-star cast. Daniel Craig, obviously the first of them to play a delightful contemporary Poirot, is consistently one step ahead of the rest.
Among them there are more interesting characters, although their stories are less studied than we would like. All in all, the case here has less depth and twist than the first installment, ending up with just two hours of enjoyable viewing, with no additional requirements.

POLICE THRILLER (2022)
Directed by Park Chan Wook
InterpretationsStory by: Park Hae-il, Tang Wei
On the Cinobo platform, we choose one of the best films that the (always) interesting Korean cinema has offered us in recent times. ‘Old Boy’ genius creator Park Chan-wook is back with a hybrid detective story that also fits into a gripping love thriller. A detective undertakes to investigate the death of a rich man who is found dead at the foot of a mountain peak.
The evidence points to suicide, but the persistent policeman soon begins to suspect the wife of the deceased. The problem is that while doing so, he feels an irresistible romantic attraction to her.
Chang Wook guides the viewer through the script maze, not in the sense of obscure or confusing, but in the sense of different levels as the Hitchcockian texture of the plot meets subtle emotional nuances and inevitable tragedy.
The heroes here try to escape their fate, but forces far beyond cold logic dictate their actions. At the level of the image, all this is expressed in a combination of closed and open plans, and some of the latter are distinguished by rare poetic beauty and expressiveness.
