Her Minister of Defense Turkey said today that Ankara will not leave unanswered any “persecution” or “provocation” from Athens.
Turkey has not received a positive response from Greece to its efforts to promote dialogue, Hulusi Akar said at an event in Turkey’s northern province of Tokat, saying Athens was not helping to “de-escalate tensions” between the two countries.
“We are not persecuting or provoking (Greece), but we will not have any persecution or provocations against us without response,” Akar said, adding that despite Athens’ “provocative stance”, Ankara will continue to call for dialogue.
“Do not hesitate with this hand of friendship,” the Turkish defense minister said and called on Greece to stop its “incompatible and provocative position”, as he called it.
