President Klaus Iohannis unveiled a law on Wednesday that raises the salaries of state-paid employees and parliamentary civil servants. The Parliament, following the decision of the Constitutional Court, canceled several texts concerning the promotion of full-time employees and officials of several ministries, and left the promotion only for civil servants of the Parliament.

More precisely, the parliamentarians added to the draft law that the basic salary of the staff of the services of the parliament is set at the level of the maximum level of salary that is paid in the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate, as the case may be, according to each function and class of years of service.

Thus, the conditions of work experience in the specialty necessary for holding state parliamentary leadership positions in the specialized structures of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate are established by the combined permanent bureaus of both chambers.

The draft also stipulates that the minimum professional experience required for executive public parliamentary positions is established by the joint permanent bureaus of both chambers at the request of the general secretaries of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

At the same time, the secondment or transfer of a civil servant of the parliament is ordered only within the limits of state authorities or state institutions to which this law applies”. provided for by this Law.

The deputies also determined that “the basic salaries provided for in the first and second ranks include an increase in seniority at the maximum level.”

The bill was initially approved by the parliament in May this year, but the UDR appealed to the Constitutional Court. At the end of the legislative session, on December 20, the Chamber of Deputies adopted it with the above changes as a decision-making body.
