Environmental bonus: new tougher conditions in 2023 News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your inbox

Like every year, January 1 is synonymous with change, and unfortunately, not always in the right direction. Surprisingly, this year too, when the authorities have planned a lot for motorists. Starting with the expiration of the discount on fuel, but not only. Because at the beginning of 2023, the scale of the environmental penalty will also develop upwards, and the maximum tax will now rise to 50,000 euros, or 27% of the price of the vehicle. The environmental bonus has also undergone some changes as it has been revised downwards from €6,000 to €5,000 for cars up to €47,000. But that’s not all.

Strict conditions

Indeed, other changes were made at our own discretion. Few people know about it, but now cars worth more than 47,000 euros are no longer entitled to public assistance. Until then, they were entitled to 3,000, and then to 2,000 euros. Initially, it was planned that the assistance would amount to 1,000 euros. In addition, the conditions for obtaining them have also been strengthened. Indeed, cars over 2.4 tons are now excluded from the system. Moreover, we need now keep your car for at least a year and no more than six months or 6,000 kilometers to receive the environmental bonus. In addition, the same person can use this assistance only once every three years.

.

A reduction, but not for everyone

Professionals can still get a little help from the state, but only up to €1,000. The plug-in hybrids are still excluded, while hydrogen-powered models are still eligible this year. It should be noted that the most modest can still benefit from an environmental bonus of up to €7,000, provided they can prove a basic taxable income of less than €14,089.
