Nicolas Popescu trained at his uncle Gicke Hagi’s academy, for whom he made his first-team debut in 2021, making seven appearances but failing to score.
Last summer, the 20-year-old decided to leave the team his father managed as president and join FC Voluntari, where he hoped to get more opportunities to play.
After just four months and four appearances in official matches, the team from Ilfov announced parting with the midfielder, who will return to Farul Konstanz.
Born in Istanbul, Nicolas Popescu has played 12 matches for Romania U19 and two matches for U20.
