The end of the auto insurance sticker

Green sticker, or car insurance certificate, has been an integral part of our windscreens for almost 40 years: it certifies that you have a well-insured car and is systematically checked by the police during inspections. But this tradition may soon change: indeed, in 2023, the insurance sticker will soon disappear!

A few months ago, this news was announced by the Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire. The goal is to simplify the procedures for motorists, as well as to save printing more than 50 million certificates every year. Checks will be carried out using the Insured Vehicle (FVA) file, which allows you to identify the vehicles that are actually covered by the insurance contract.

Why does auto insurance become more expensive?

While restrictions on freedom and remote work have had a positive effect on the price of auto insurance with relative stability since 2020, the recovery in economic activity has also been accompanied by a recovery in accidents and car claimscosts that are borne by insurers.

In addition to inflation, this growth is also associated with price increase of spare parts, which has experienced a real explosion in recent years.
