The 41-year-old man climbed Mount Olympus with his 35-year-old friend. The two men were separated when one of them decided to go upstairs. Returning to the indicated place, he did not find a 41-year-old man and gave a distress signal.

With the first rays of the day, research began, only now ice and a difficult road in this area further complicated the conditions of the operation.

According to the fire department, “an Air Force Super Puma helicopter mobilized by the National Search and Rescue Coordination Center was unable to reach a person on its first hover due to adverse conditions. On the second attempt and during refueling, the crew managed to find him with the help of special ropes and a basket and carry him unconscious from the scene.

The police department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the causes of the accident.

He was reportedly an experienced climber, climbing steep and high peaks and a member of the Itea-Kirras Ski Association. He was even one of its most outstanding climbers, since in 2017 he climbed the Caucasus Range.
