According to the fire department, “an Air Force Super Puma helicopter mobilized by the National Search and Rescue Coordination Center was unable to reach a person on its first hover due to adverse conditions. On the second attempt and during refueling, the crew managed to find him with the help of special ropes and a basket and carry him unconscious from the scene.
The police department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the causes of the accident.
He was reportedly an experienced climber, climbing steep and high peaks and a member of the Itea-Kirras Ski Association. He was even one of its most outstanding climbers, since in 2017 he climbed the Caucasus Range.
