Schimatari Megafactory, Greece’s largest soft drink and juice factory, Heraklion Crete factory, AVRA water factory in Aigio and Tsakiris chips factory in Atalanti.

Contribution to the national economy and employment

With continuous investments of more than 75 million US dollars over the past three years and a staff of more than 1,500 employees, the company’s main goal is sustainable growth together with partners, customers and suppliers. By manufacturing and distributing its products, it significantly contributes to the development of the national economy and employment, as its contribution for 2021 reached 1.3 billion euros, supporting 32,000 direct and indirect jobs. This means that for every euro of value added by Coca-Cola in Greece (Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon and Coca-Cola Hellas), 6 euros are created in the Greek economy, and for every Coca-Cola employee in Greece, another 16 euros. job creation in the country.

Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon represents nearly 50% of the soft drink industry’s turnover and has the industry’s largest sales force, offers its products in more than 113 thousand outlets on the Greek market. The company’s strategic priority is to be the partner of choice for its customers, making a significant contribution to the development of the HoReCa sector, which accounts for the largest share of the added value created by its products. Because innovation is an important part of its development, it offers the most exciting and ever-evolving product portfolio on the market. A typical example is the addition of premium Italian natural mineral water Lurisia, which offers its customers even more catering options.

Resilient and resilient supply chain

The supply chain plays a central role in the Coca-Cola business. Aiming to create a climate-smart supply chain by 2040, the company is constantly investing in innovative solutions and synergies that will further reduce its environmental impact. A typical example is the €4 million investment to eliminate plastic film in aluminum packaging with a new type of KeelClip™ packaging that reduces plastic use by 540 tons per year.

Its strategy to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals includes, among other things, moving towards a circular approach to packaging. In this direction, the company recently switched to non-removable lids on all packaging in its portfolio, starting with Amita juices, following a European directive two years earlier. Thus, it helps to ensure that the 256 million non-removable caps can be used and not released into the environment.

Doppelgänger in the local community

Coca-Cola in Greece stands firmly at the side of society, offering initiatives and programs that create value and directly respond to its needs. Notable among its initiatives is Empowered, the No. 1 free program for expanding employment opportunities. In an effort to offer the new generation and professionals of the HoReCa sector the necessary resources to create in our country the professional future they dream of, Empowered has provided more than 30,000 participants since 2017.

In addition, the company immediately responded to the devastating fires of 2021 by donating 1.8 million euros and became a contractor for the restoration of the Warimombi-Tatoi area. In total, Coca-Cola in Greece allocated €6.4 million to social programs for the three-year period 2019-2021.
