Athletes from Russia and Belarus remain suspended from all major competitions

Quoted by AFP, Coe clarified that Russian athletes remain excluded for the “foreseeable future”.

“Nothing has changed for me. All athletes, as well as technical staff – ‘entourage’ to use the IOC’s term – are excluded from all events organized by World Athletics for the foreseeable future.” Sebastian Coe.

In fact, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) announced just a few days ago that it is not considering lifting the disqualification of athletes from Russia and Belarus, even if the qualification process for the 2024 Olympics (from Paris) starts next year.

Athletes from Russia and Belarus were banned from all competitions after Vladimir Putin decided to invade Ukraine on February 24 this year.

In total, the program of the Paris Olympics-2024 will include 32 sports, more than 10,000 athletes from all over the world are expected to participate in the competition.
