
On December 14, 2022, the very first copy of the restyled Audi Q8 E-tron rolled off the assembly line of the German brand’s plant located in in Brussels, Belgium. This site is a sustainable production model, where the original Audi E-tron was already built before adopting the name “Q8 E-tron” during the recent restyling.
Since 2018 Audi’s first fully electric model passed approx 160,000 copies : “Brussels has done valuable pioneering work. We learn from the experience we’ve gained by delivering around 160,000 cars around the world. The next step will be to use this experience to increase battery production in Ingolstadt.”said Gerd Walker, Audi Board Member for Production and Logistics.
Restyled Audi Q8 E-tron: an innovative plant
The updated Audi Q8 E-tron is a “certified carbon neutral” car in Europe and the United States: from 2025, production at all Audi plants will carbon neutralbut the Brussels site won this award in 2018.
Indeed, since the production of the Audi E-tron, the Belgian plant has become the world’s first certified carbon-neutral high-volume factory in the premium segment. In particular, the site went green in 2012 by installing one of the largest photovoltaic systems in the region, covering an area of 107,000 m², producing approximately 9,000 MWh of sustainable energy each year and reducing carbon emissions by 1,881 tons.

Audi has been represented in Belgium since 2007
For production, Audi and its suppliers are obliged to use only sourcesrenewable energy, such as power cells or electric traction motors, which are transported from Hungary by train. Rail transport enables Audi to reduce its carbon emissions by around 2,600 tonnes every year.
Audi has owned a plant in Brussels since 2007, then produced the Audi A1 there before launching the Audi E-tron there in 2018. Last year, Audi Brussels produced no fewer than 43,866 fully electric cars. From the second half of 2023The Audi Q4 E-tron will also be produced in Brussels more than 3000 employees.
Audi Q8 E-tron restyling: improved autonomy
The Audi E-tron takes advantage of its mid-model facelift to become the Audi Q8 E-tron and refreshes its range with the introduction of new more efficient versions.
The Q8 55 E-tron version, with 408 hp and 664 Nm of torque, now has a 114 kWh battery (106 kWh net) that offers range up to 582 km (172 km more than before) according to the WLTP cycle. The battery of the Audi Q8 E-tron is compatible with ultra-fast charging stations with a capacity of 150 or 170 kW, depending on the version.
