More than 10,000 fully electric cars were registered in Romania this year, more than in 2020 and 2021 combined. According to an analysis by LEKTRI.CO, a company that manufactures electric vehicle charging stations in Timisoara, the total electric vehicle fleet in Romania has exceeded 23,000 units.
According to centralized data, 10,140 electric cars were registered in the country in the first 11 months, which is more than in the last two years combined.
In 2020, 3,130 electric cars were registered, and last year there were more than 6,800 of them.
Dacia Spring continues to be at the top of Romanian preference, registering 459 registered units in November alone, approx. 50% of the total amount. The Volkswagen E-UP returns to second place this month with 59 registrations, followed by the Renault Megane E-TECH with 31 units registered.
In the high-end segment (which includes models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche), 77 new registrations were recorded.
In the overall top of the electric fleet, Dacia Spring maintains its position with about 35% of the total volume (8,092 units), and Renault ZOE is in second place with 9.2% (2,123 units). But if until recently the Tesla Model 3 stood on the podium, then this model lost momentum, and the VW E-UP, which was in the fourth position, remained in high demand, rising to the third place, with a percentage of 5.5% (1,265 units).
In terms of charging infrastructure, if only public chargers are considered, without limitation, AC Type 2 and CCS/CHAdeMO fast charger are the most used.
According to the Plugshare portal, the 3,000th charging point was installed in Romania last month. Currently there are approx. 3,040 public chargers, and the number of public charging stations reached 1,378.
In total, the electric vehicle fleet in Romania exceeded 23,000 units, with 915 electric vehicles (including 12 commercial LCVs) registered in November.
