PSD President Marcel Cholaku said that, in his opinion, the future is progressive taxation, but only after ANAF will the Ministry of Finance and Customs move to digitalization. Cholaku explained that such taxation exists in all countries of the world, except for Russia and Estonia.

When asked by Digi 24 on Monday evening when the progressive taxation should take effect, Çolaku explained that after the digitization of some government institutions, News.ro reports.

“After the Romanian state – through ANAF, the Ministry of Finance and Customs – will deal with digitization in Romania. There is no future other than progressive taxation, only if you follow the Russian logic. It seems to me that Estoria is also in this logic,” said Cholaku.

The leader of the Social Democrats argued that progressive taxation would not bring more taxes.

“That doesn’t mean it’s going to increase taxes. Capital will be taxed differently. It’s a normal thing, it’s also in the United States, it’s everywhere in the world. We have to get out of this rhetoric with a single quota. In Romania, the single quota no longer exists. There are many exceptions in the Fiscal Code. This is rhetoric again, because there should be a competitive climate, in the same way these exemptions should be removed from the Fiscal Code, and ANAF should be digitized,” Çolaku added.
