Germany disappointed at the 2022 World Cup and was eliminated from the group stage. Days after the Germans exited the tournament in Qatar, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed that Hansi Flick will remain as coach.
Hansi Flick remains the head coach of the German national team
Thus, Flick will prepare the German national team for the final tournament of the European Championship in 2024, where the Germans will have the status of the host country.
Bernd Neuendorf, president of the DFB, said in a press release issued after their meeting.
“We are convinced that the 2024 European Championship represents a great opportunity for football in Germany. We are fully confident that Hansi Flick will be able to handle this problem,” the German Federation said in a statement.
The first big name to leave the German national team after the disgraceful exit from the 2022 World Cup
Germany is eliminated from the group stage of the World Cup for the second time in a row
Hansi Flick’s team relied on more than just her progress, and although the Germans managed to beat Costa Rica (4-2), they missed out on qualification thanks to Japan’s victory (2-1 against Spain).
This is the second World Cup in a row that Germany has missed the group stage since the 2018 World Cup (Russia).
